Team "Just Right" tops leader board in inaugural JMU Duke Club fundraiser

Saturday December 12, 2009 marked the beginning of fishing tradition for local alumni & friends of James Madison University. In conjunction with the Hampton Roads Duke Club, the local fundraising arm for James Madison University Athletics, Co-Chairman Hal Yuill & Jason Murphy raised nearly $4,000 of unrestricted contributions in support of student-athlete scholarships and the JMU athletic budget. Headquartered out of Chick’s Oyster Bar / Marina, the event featured 18 boats and nearly 100 anglers. The weekend event featured a catered captain’s meeting Friday night, a full day of fishing, dock-side weigh station party, awards banquet w/ fresh seafood dinner, and over a dozen exciting silent auction items donated by JMU & local businesses. The model of the tournament was a proven winner for both James Madison University & the lucky anglers that left with a combined $3,350 in cash payouts out at the awards banquet!

1st place – Team "Just Right" – Fish 1=42lbs – Fish 2=39lbs, TOTAL=81lbs
2 place – Team "Amos & Andy" – Fish 1=35lbs – Fish 2=28lbs, TOTAL =63 lbs
3rd place – Team "2 Fish, 1 Cup" - Fish 1=33lbs – Fish 2=28lbs, TOTAL=61 lbs

"Duke Dog Challenge" – Winner Take All Calcutta – Team "2 Fish, 1 Cup"
"50/30/20" Calcutta – 1st - "2 Fish, 1 Cup," 2nd - "Team Weis", 3rd - "Team Pickett"
"Sea Tow Challenge" – Top Fish by Sea Tow Member – Winner Hal Yuill
